How VisaTogether works
A shared process, at a pace you control.
Use the organizer to make your own preparation work easier to see and discuss.
Step 1
Answer a few questions
Get started asks only what the plan needs: which path you are on (the beta opens K-1; the others are coming soon), which of you is which, where the partner applying lives, how far along you are, and a few situation questions. Your login comes after the questions, not before.
- The plan is built from your answers: stages, tasks with owners, key dates
- Change any answer later; tasks, records and dates are kept
- Not sure about a detail? Leave it unknown. Nothing is guessed for you
Step 2
Invite your partner
Each of you has your own login. You invite your partner with a link that only works for their verified email; they read what is shared and consent before joining.
- Each partner chooses English or Vietnamese; the plan stays the same
- Files start private; you choose which versions to share
- Either of you can leave; nobody’s originals are deleted
Step 3
Work the plan together
Home shows where you are on the journey, the next task for each of you and the next one you do together. Pick three tasks for the week so you both know what this week is for.
- Every task says why it matters, what done looks like and where it came from
- Tasks that only apply to some couples appear only when your answers say so
- Country notes on the few tasks that differ, Vietnam first
Step 4
Keep records as you go
Upload documents, add a few dated photos or screenshots each month, and record moments on your timeline. Records stay private until you share a version with your partner.
- Documents, versions and a trash you control
- A shared timeline of your relationship, pictures included
- A monthly evidence nudge, so nothing has to be rebuilt a year later
Step 5
Record milestones and review before you file
Record the dates that matter (filed, NVC, interview) as your own milestones, watch the readiness count for the interview or filing, and review a timeline packet before you export it.
- Milestones are your records, not agency status
- An organizer packet is preparation material, not a filing
- Readiness counts what you marked done; it is not an approval score
What the plan knows
One path today. More coming soon.
The K-1 petition is open in this free beta. The other paths are coming soon. Times and fees are typical ranges from public guides, checked 23 Sep 2026, not a prediction for your case.
| Path | Who it is for | Stages | Template tasks | Typical time | Government fees |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| K-1 fiancé(e) visa | You're engaged · your partner is abroad | 7 | 61 | Visa in about 8–16 months; green card about 18–30 months | About $940 for the visa, then $1,440–$2,330 after arrival by paper filing ($1,390–$2,230 online) |
| CR-1 / IR-1 spouse visa Coming soon | You're married · your partner is abroad | Official page · USCIS, Form I-130 | |||
| Adjustment of status Coming soon | You're married to a US citizen · your partner was admitted or paroled into the US | Official page · USCIS, Form I-485 |
Where the tasks come from
Every task links to its source.
Task explanations come from public guides and official pages, each shown with the date it was checked, so you can read the original yourself.
- USCIS form pages (I-129F, I-130, I-485, I-751)
- U.S. Department of State, immigrant visa process
- U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, fiancé(e) visa
- Named public guides on denial reasons, fees, interviews and sponsorship
What VisaTogether does not do
- It is not a law firm and gives no legal advice
- It does not decide eligibility or predict an outcome
- It does not file anything or produce a government form
- It does not send reminder e-mails or give live AI advice
VisaTogether is organizing software, not legal representation or immigration advice. It does not include a filing, official form, attorney review, certified translation, government fee, or immigration result.
Questions
Before you begin
Straight answers about what VisaTogether does, what it costs and what stays private.
Getting started
Do we both need to be there to start?
No. One of you answers the questions and creates the first login, and the plan is built right away. Invite your partner when you are ready; they see the same plan in their own language.
What if we are not sure which path we are on?
Choose “Not sure yet”. You get a workspace without a path and pick one from the Plan page later; the stages and tasks fill in then. You can also change the path later and keep your tasks, records and dates.
Can we look before creating an account?
Yes. Explore the fictional sample in English or Vietnamese. It does not create an account, and its sample records do not transfer to a workspace.
How do we log in?
With your email and a password, then a six-digit code we email you as a second check. If you prefer, you can log in with the email code alone. Never share a code with anyone, including your partner.
Working together
How do we work together?
Create a workspace, share an invitation link with your intended partner, and let them review and consent before joining. The link only works for their verified email.
Can one of us use Vietnamese and the other English?
Yes. Each partner picks their own language and time zone. The plan, the tasks and the records are the same for both; only the interface changes.
Who does which task?
Every template task has a suggested owner from your roles: the petitioner’s tasks to one of you, the applicant’s to the other, and some for both. You can change any assignment, add your own tasks and pick three for the week together.
What if we do not know a detail?
Keep it unknown, or record only the month or year you know. A missing-information prompt is a reason to review an entry, not a conclusion about your case.
Records and privacy
Can my partner see everything I upload?
No. Every file version starts private. You choose which version to share, and you can withdraw sharing later; copies already downloaded cannot be recalled.
Where is our data stored?
With our hosting providers in the United States. If you use VisaTogether from Vietnam or elsewhere, your data is transferred to and processed there. The privacy page has the details.
What happens if we separate or one of us leaves?
Either partner can leave. Sharing stops and the workspace enters separation: new invitations and shared changes are frozen, and nobody’s originals are deleted.
Money and limits
What does it cost?
Planning, gathering your records and printing the filing packet are free for both of you during the beta. Government fees, translations and any professional’s fees are separate.
Do reminders send email?
You can save reminder preferences, but reminder email delivery is not connected. Do not rely on the organizer for an official deadline.
Is an export a filing?
No. Review your selected timeline and files first. An organizer export is preparation material, not an officially submitted or approved filing.
Can VisaTogether tell us whether we qualify?
No. It organizes preparation work and shows sourced tasks with the public guides they came from. It does not decide eligibility, predict an outcome or give legal advice; for a legal question, ask a licensed professional.
